I don’t know about you guys, but I find it really hard to find jeans that fit. Next to shopping for swim-suits, the hunt for the perfect pair of jeans is nearly impossible, and can also be somewhat horrifying. I am definitely a girl with curves… let’s be serious. My thighs touch and there aren’t too many companies that realize that the modern woman comes in many different shapes and sizes. If the waist isn’t too large, the rear is too small, or vice versa, and I find myself working up a sweat trying on nearly every size and style in the store and ultimately end up leaving empty handed.

Excitement was an understatement when Target asked me to sample 4 of their new denim styles, which were released in stores July 15th! I won’t lie, when the box of denim arrived, I was pretty panicked. With my terrible track record of trying on denim, why would these be any different?

Boy, was I surprised.

For me, denim isn’t about fitting in, it’s about the fit. Jeans are an everyday style staple and I want them to be comfortable for whatever my day brings, but they have to fit right, feel right, and make me want to wear them.

For 14 days, I sampled 4 different jean styles, and by sampled I mean, shopped in them, worked in them, ran errands in them, went out for cocktails in them, made coffee runs wearing them, and might have even passed out on my couch watching Netflix in a pair… (don’t act like you’ve never done it).

I am not usually a fan of light wash denim, because, honestly, they tend to make me look bigger than I really am. Before putting on this pair of light wash mid-rise jeggings, I was already slightly pessimistic, but that changed the moment I put them on. Surprisingly enough, they are extremely flattering and talk about comfortable! This pair of jeans shocked me the most. Not only could I wear light wash jeans, but they actually suit my body and flatter it at the same time. They continue to impress me the longer I wear them. You will certainly find these in heavy rotation in my closet moving forward.

Do you guys wear high waisted jeans? I find that a lot people are afraid to wear them and find them intimidating. High waisted jeans are one of my favorite styles. Call me old fashioned, (70s throwback!) but there is just something so classic about a streamlined look from the waist down, creating the effect of long and slim legs. Certainly this is something I try to master as much as possible, and the dark fade added to that long and slimming appeal. This pair was no surprised to me. They had the perfect amount of stretch and the high waist gave great support (my secret weapon).

Boyfriend jeans personally give me somewhat of a struggle. In most cases I have to size up (which is the case with this pair too). Most boyfriend jeans don’t contain enough stretch for me. This pair fit rather similar to other brands that I’ve tried, although I didn’t have to size up and they did fit, I just prefer to size up giving them a baggier “boyfriend” appeal. They were still comfortable, but they were not my first choice out of the 4 options I tried. If you don’t have a pear shape, I highly suggest purchasing this pair true to size.

Sorry ladies, but you can’t always wear jeggings, as appealing as the idea might be. But, when a jegging isn’t going to work, this is the next best thing (and they have fully functioning front pockets too!). This pair of Mossimo mid-rise skinny jeans was my absolute favorite. There was a point that I used to live in jeggings and gave up on traditional jeans, not gonna lie, but there is hope and these jeans are certainly it! Super stretchy, uber comfortable, and the perfect fade that really complimented my shape. This pair is a total win in my book and I would highly recommend them!

Before trying on these 4 jean styles, I never would have realized how well Target has redesigned their new denim line. With improved fit, fabric, and styles to fit every body, I was really impressed with the quality of their new denim. I would highly recommend stopping into your nearest Target, giving them a try, and finding your Target Style.
