I am back in the City of Salt Lake and I couldn’t be less excited about it. Granted, we were greeted with amazing summer weather upon return, but vacationing in paradise is just so much better than home. So, in memory, I wanted to share with you some of my favorite spots in San Diego. Favorite spots to eat that is!
The Broken Yolk
Easily, my favorite breakfast spot in all of San Diego, which was introduced to me by a close friend and San Diego native, is the Broken Yolk. It provides nothing but pure bliss, especially to a breakfast burrito connoisseur like me. Anyone who has ever been there ultimately becomes obsessed and it’s a must stop every time we’re in Southern California.
Better Buzz Coffee
Â
Automatically luring me in with their intriguing name and catchy slogan (which any smart ass marketing professional can appreciate) Better Buzz coffee is just that. Me and my sister tried it for the first time last year and easily fell in love with their variety of iced teas and coffee.  And the fabulous, relaxed So-Cal vibe doesn’t hurt either, because life really is better “Buzzed”.
Asaggio Pizza
Â
It comes down to this…sometimes you really just want a slice of pizza, and Asaggio Pizza is just that. A sweet little gem that you can find tucked away in Seaport Village, behind ocean side hotels in downtown San Diego, is good, delicious, Chicago style pizza. Plus, feeding 4 girls with pizza, garlic bread, and a pitcher of beer for under $40 isn’t half bad either.
Olive Cafe
Â
Mission Beach is probably one of my favorite places on earth (no, seriously).Â
Olive Cafe is located in Mission Beach and conveniently placed before you cross the street to head to the ocean.Â
My sister and I spotted this bad boy last summer, but didn’t actually get to sit down and try it for ourselves. But this trip, it was definitely on the agenda for our beach day. A day filled with coffee, pastries and breakfast burritos, of course. It’s the perfect little location to enjoy a bite before you hit the beach.

The Brick & Bell Cafe
Â
Our tour of San Diego wouldn’t quite be complete without a stop in La Jolla. Located about 20 minutes out of downtown, La Jolla is a completely different feel than Mission Beach. With a more Malibu vibe, La Jolla is filled with as much luxury as Beverly Hills, but is just as laid back as the rest of So Cal.Â
Walking the streets, we found The Brick & Bell Cafe, a cute little house transformed into a cafe with a large assortment of pastries and breakfast and lunch treats. A peaceful environment compared to the “happening” brunch spot around the block.

All the extras
Â
We didn’t always have time to sit down and eat at a cute hole in the wall cafe, or beach side restaurant. Sometimes we were lured by the sound of childhood and bought popsicles or indulged in nachos by the pool. There is also nothing like a street taco, or carne asada fries in San Diego, and nothing finishes it off better than a cold beer. Regardless, San Diego is paradise and you should find a way to visit.
Next up, San Francisco in less than a month! And then San Diego and I will meet again before the Summers over!

You have successfully made me hungry and I have serious city envy. I love that you had that spongebob ice pop — it reminds me of childhood. I’d still get one now though. Without hesitation!

I lived in San Diego for 7 months after college, and your post has me missing it! I love the Broken Yolk cafe, so delicious, and I don’t think I’ve ever been to a city with better Mexican. I want to go back right now, what an awesome place.

I’ve always wanted to go to San Diego. It just seems like such a great city, and one of the reasons is because the food scene sounds awesome. These photos were literally making me hungry!!
