Whats in my bag: San Diego

 Tomorrow is the big day!
Although the flight to San Diego is a short one for me, it’s still important to pack the essentials and make sure everything is safe and sound. I have heard way too many travel horror stories of people getting things stolen in transit. So I just wanted to share a few travel tips to make sure your precious cargo arrives with you at your destination.

1. Never pack valuables in a bag that will be checked on the plane: 
Too many people put their most valuable items in their checked bags thinking that the items will be safe. News flash!  That’s where most theft happens! Be sure to pack your jewelry with you in your carry-on bag or in your purse. I tend to put everything in a lightly padded cosmetics case that I put in my purse so it’s with me at all times. I also carry my SLR camera with me at all times too.

2. Wear bulkier items to the airport:
Nothing takes up more room in my luggage than a pair of sneakers or a big hat. I prefer to wear those items to the airport instead of packing them. It frees up A LOT of space and prevents things from getting ruined or dirty. If you prefer to pack your hats or bulky shoes, be sure to fill your hat with items to keep it in its original shape and put worn sneakers in plastic bags so they don’t transfer dirt to your packed clothing!

3. Make a list:

If I don’t have a list, chances are I’m going to forgot something. I know I’m not the only person whose brain runs at a million miles per second. We are human… we forget things. Typically, I forget the basic things: socks, pjs, a toothbrush, or my makeup… the things we just expect to be there. Making a list ensures everything is packed and not left behind. Nothing is worse than forgetting your straightening iron… NOTHING.
 
I’m currently making a list right now and so far, I’ve already forgotten my pajamas…
