Fall Layering 

As much as I don’t want to part with Summer, reality is that September starts tomorrow. Although, Fall hasn’t officially started, the colors and temperatures have slowly begun to change in the valley. I have began my seasonal transition with my first fall purchase for some amazing booties, but most importantly, how can we transition our existing summer wardrobe into one for Fall. Sure we all splurge on Fall favorites like scarves, boots, sweaters and jackets, but utilizing what we already have in our closets can save a bit more in our pockets or allow us to purchase fewer but higher quality items.

For me personally, my New Years resolution of creating a more minimal approach to my wardrobe has helped massively in allowing me to coordinate majority of my items by have options in a simplistic color palette. Black, whites, grays, olives, blues and browns have been on my radar and help me transform my warmer items into the new season. My favorite way to go about the transition is through simple Fall layers.

We always hear the phrase “Less is More” but in the case of Fall, throwing on that extra item is the perfect transitional piece. My favorite fall transition piece would have to be my taupe leather jacket (it’s under $25!), or just leather jackets in general. Adding on a simple jacket or sweater layer is a simple addition to a summer outfit white making it seasonally appropriate. In this outfit I picked up an amazing long slit tank top and didn’t really see too many opportunities to pull it out this summer. It however was the perfect combination for a Fall layering look with black denim and the moto jacket. Giving a simple jean and jacket look a bit more edge and movement.

    Fall is one of my favorite seasons, and leather jackets are one of the primary reasons! They can make just about any outfit lightyears cooler, and are a perfect layer for cool afternoons and chilly evenings. I wasn’t 100% on board with the long slit top trend, but I REALLY love this look.

    Also – these photos are beautiful (as are you, of course)! Haley is really talented… I’ve been considering booking a shoot with her, and now I think I’m convinced 🙂
