Can you guys believe that Halloween is only two weeks away?! Not going to lie but I am a little less than prepared this year (or every year around this time…), but I finally got bit by the spooky bug. Although, the haunted holiday is around the corner, there is still time to ‘treat’ your neighbors, friends, or loved ones.
One of the things I love about my neighborhood is how fun and festive they are around the holidays. The community has movie nights, costume contests, and outdoor house decorating challenges, but one of my favorite things that they do is showing neighbor appreciation and randomly ‘BOO’ing’ people within the community. Only being a homeowner for 2 years now, the ‘BOO’ing’ concept is new to me but it’s such a fun idea so I certainly wanted to get involved! I really wanted to keep things simple and stick with classic favorites that I know everyone would enjoy, that I could pick up all in one place!
I headed to my local Wal-mart store and walked through the the many Halloween themed isles for inspiration. First I found the most adorable gift box featuring a fun little window that was perfect to display a sneak peek of whats inside. Next, all I needed was to figure out what to fill it up with.
When it comes to candy, personally I have a soft spot for chocolate favorites… SNICKERS®, M&M’s®, and one of my favorites, TWIX®! MARS® makes it easy for Halloween shoppers with there assorted Chocolate Favorites bag that combines all of my favorites. I snagged two bags, and but knew my gift wasn’t yet complete without something to wash down all that chocolate. Making my way to the soda isle I happened upon some fun halloween themed 7UP® mini soda cans. They were the perfect size to fit in my box, while the six pack allowed me to stock up for friends later.
To assemble my ‘BOO’ gifts, I lined the inside of my box with black tissue paper and filled it with a hefty serving of chocolate and a couple of the cute 7UP® cans (I told you the box was a good size). I sealed up the box, and tied on some fun festive balloons, including a cute ghost (because you can’t have a ‘BOO’ without a ghost!). But don’t forget the ‘BOO’ sign, so that your neighbors or friends know how to #BOOITFORWARD. You can find this printable sign here!
- Be sure to cut out your “We’ve been BOO’d sign.
- Fold the “You’ve been BOO’d” greeting card (page 2) and tape openings together.
- Include the card and sign when gifting your BOO bundle.
It’s really that easy to leave a little bit of Halloween fun and make someones day! #BooItForward
Be sure to check out other great BOO Kit ideas. I’d love to hear about who you are BOO’ing this year to celebrate Halloween!

This is so cute! And same, I’ve only been a homeowner for 2 years in my current community and not gonna lie, the first year surprised me alot since everybody is so festive! (Although no movie nights which I should probably suggest). And giving out candy is what I always do so I’m just going really simple this year with marshmallows and stuff. I am loving that 7-up mini soda cans too!
