Whoever invented the “No white after Labor Day” rule, clearly had no idea how amazing it looked while done in a minimal (semi) monochromatic way. I mean don’t get me wrong, as much as I loved wearing white in the summer, something about wearing it in the fall and winter months is that much more exciting.
Minimally speaking, in most cases we all own quite a few white pieces. So naturally, creating a minimal monochromatic look out of all white isn’t that hard. The hardest hurtle we all have to cross is getting over our fear of pure white (or maybe that was just me). TRUST ME, I was pretty much terrified of white for a long time. Having more of an hourglass/apple shaped figure, white isn’t the most flattering color in the world to me. It wasn’t until my recent transition to a more minimal wardrobe that I became more familiar and began loving white. Purchasing pieces that are made to interchange with all the classic items you already own makes you create a sense of creativity with getting dressed. It wasn’t until I was left mixing and matching different pieces, that I tried a full white monochromatic look. Surprisingly scary, yet in the same sense also flattering.
When you are wearing the same color top and bottom, you are allowing the eye to look up and down in a seamless manor. This creates the illusion of being slimmer. I absolutely know that black is the ultimate color to appear to look much slimmer but in most cases I don’t want to be restricted by a black wardrobe. No one should be limited to a specific color palette, it’s just about how we can wear it to best suit our body and skin tones.
Let’s just change the rule to “White only after labor day!”

I love the almost monochromatic theme. It’s warm and comforting. I have a friend who only dresses in white and cream colors – all year ’round – and I’ve never thought she shouldn’t!
