“Women who wear black live colorful lives.” – Neiman Marcus
With the beginnings of winter peaking through the remaining weeks of fall, I have been wearing a very consistent color palette – Black, white, grey, nude, …repeat. Although, in 2015 my styling has still remained consistent, the colors I steer towards now are much more minimal. While I appear to be drawing less attention to bright colors, keeping it simples allows me to utilize more of my wardrobe without looking cluttered or bulky. This transition over the year has made me appreciate black most of all.
Black may be the oldest and most classic form of sophistication. From the classic LBD to a simple black pump that all women have in their closets, black is the most loved, most flattering, and recently for me, the most appreciated color in my wardrobe. Always being a girl who loved to share her personality through clothing, I always felt like color was my true outlet. Blues, pinks, orange, green and yellows, I loved to always utilize colors to express my love for clothing and how I was feeling each season. What I didn’t realize was how limiting it was, and how much money I was spending on fad trends or season specific colors. Keeping my colors mostly to neutrals has allowed me to do less with much more, and made even the most seasonal trends wearable all year round. I find myself buying much less and choosing much more classic and timeless pieces.
Loving solid color outfits, this monochromatic outfit was the perfect shell to add one of this seasons hottest and most comfortable trends: the poncho. This black and white poncho I picked up for less than $30, and was the perfect addition for the chilly days that have been hanging around these last weeks of November. It has taken me only 27 years to realize it, but I am a firm believer now that: Black is most definitely the new Black.

I love black clothes! Most of my closet is gray or black, and if not that then blue, which is my favorite color. And half of my stuff is striped. 🙂 Black looks very classic and sophisticated in my opinion.
So glad I found your blog babe. You’re KILLIN IT.
I am dying over the shell toe Adidas, I mean the best trend ever.
Turquoise jewelry was a nice touch too – xoxo

A. I love the title. B. I want that Poncho. C. I couldn’t agree more. I pretty much never wore black until I went minimal earlier this year. Now I LOVE it. Your color palette “Black, white, grey, nude, …repeat” is what I’ve been wearing, and I will never go back. It’s too easy, chic, and perfect.
Black is such a beautiful color! I really like how you styled that whole look.
Black is also my all time favorite. You look really great and I love the Neiman Marcus quote 🙂
