It’s the most wonderful time of year! Are you knee deep in holiday party planning and entertaining? Or are you prepping for Christmas and the upcoming New Years festivities? For me planning makes perfect from pre-selecting my outfits for holiday parties, to practicing the latest in makeup looks for New Years. This year, I am teaming up with NEUTROGENA to bring you a makeup look tutorial that I am trying to ring in 2016 with!
Not only is the holiday season full of parties and gatherings, but it’s a crucial time of year that we not only need to look our best, but also pay close attention to take care of our skin. I’ve never been one to wear loads of makeup, but keeping it simple with signature staples helps to make a statement for the New Year, by not only being effortless, but also good for your skin. Using NEUTROGENA Nourishing Long Wear Eye Shadow + Built-In Primer and NEUTROGENA MoistureSmooth Color Sticks that I picked up at Walmart, were the perfect products to create the look I was going for.
First I start of with a freshly prepped face. Consisting of moisturizer, foundation, highlighter and bronzer. I like to get the basics out of the way before I work on my eye and lip makeup. I picked up the Long Wear Eye Shadow palette in “Nude,” a classic palette consisting of rich neutrals, browns, and pinks. The best part about applying this eye shadow is the fact that it allows you to skip a step! Up to 12 hours of rich, nourishing color. Built-in primer prevents creasing. No more spending extra on eye shadow primers, the Long Wear Eye Shadow has primer built right in!
Each shade is strategically placed in order, from the top color that you blend all over your eyelid. The second shade provides a great highlight for under your eyebrow and the center corner of your eye. Working your way down, I use the third shade for an all over color for what I like to call the “almond of my eye” or your eye lid. After I finish this shade, I prefer to blend the lid light and the highlighter from under my brow to create a smoother, natural look. The fourth and final color on the palette creates a great optional smokey color, perfect to make a great statement this holiday season. I prefer to start on the farthest section of my lash line, on the side away from my nose, creating a repetitive “V” shaped motion with my brush. You can slowly start bringing that smokey look from the V, into around the mid-crease in your eye lid. I then apply my liquid eyeliner without worry of messing up my shadow. Creating a simple, and bold statement for any eye color!
No look would be complete without a great bold lip color! With the MoistureSmooth Color Sticks, you can apply rich color that improves the condition of your lips each time you wear it. It’s certainly a color I reach for regularly in my purse. When I picked up this Color Stick in ‘Real Raisin’ I knew it would be the perfect holiday color for all my upcoming festivities.
Due to the fact that this lip color is extremely nourishing with Mango and Shea butter, there is no need to apply lip balm to prep your lips. I actually took all the extra moisture off my lips before application with a tissue. Starting on the curve of my lip, working down, I apply the Color Stick as I would a lip liner. After your line is complete, it’s easy to fill in the center with all of that deep berry color and top off your Holiday makeup!
Don’t just take my word for it! Be sure to check out all the NEUTROGENA products at Walmart and recreate this look or create your own! Happy Holidays everyone!
