“The little black dress expresses a moment of freedom and individuality every time.” –Andre Leon Talley
It’s pretty insane to think that we only have 3 days left of 2015 until we ring in a brand new year. Each year after Christmas I begin to start writing down all the goals that I have been pondering over the last few months to finalize my upcoming resolutions. But before we start to fill up the gym, or begin to save more money in 2016… it’s time to dress up for one last time.
Christmas in my home is more of a relaxing holiday. We tend to stay in our pajamas and celebrate the day talking with each other and spending time we are often too busy to spend during the rest of the year. New Years is not as relaxing but always fun and exciting, spending time with friends and dressing up to send the previous year out with a bang. Typically I would wear a little dress, usually covered in sequins, but this year I wanted to keep it classic. 2015 I took on the challenge of dressing more minimally, wearing colors that had longevity and would be flattering while mixing and matching my wardrobe with different pieces. This gave me a whole new appreciation for the color black and for 2016, and it was time to make a statement.
When I saw this long sleeve black dress I knew it was the right amount of class, but the perfect amount of daring with cut out lace panels to fit my personality. Pairing a classic black dress with bright accessories also makes wearing all black much more fun. It allows you to dress up you “Black canvas” with endless options of accessories. Even this unexpected hot pink Charlotte Olympia clutch and my metallic leopard heels complimented my refined black dress.
Maybe 2016 wont be about the sequins or mini dresses, but about class and determination going into a brand new year! How will you be ringing in 2016?
