Navy Plaid Coat

It’s January 3rd and I am stepping right into the New Year with my first outfit post of 2016! Although, with my recent Whole 30 New Years resolution and fitness goals, most of what you will be seeing me in lately is my workout gear. Now that there aren’t any cold weather holidays to look forward to, the snow isn’t magical anymore but just plain cold. Needless to say, it’s back to the grind of daily life and dreaming of my next long weekend. Until that long weekend comes (lets hope its a tropical one), I will be wrapped up in a coat where ever I may go.

I have already given everyone the down low on why having a major coat collection in Salt Lake is beyond essential… and when I say coat collection… I literally meant ALL OF THE COATS. With 4 out of the next 7 days projecting snow, I can’t help but squeeze this plaid coat that much tighter. Not only do coats make the perfect addition to winter layering, but going from home to the gym, work, grocery shopping, or any daily errand, it’s important to coat up and stay warm. With lows into the single digits at night, there may have been times I have debated wearing a coat to bed.

We all have a different tolerance for the cold, but even my friends on the West Coast complain about 45 degree weather and their dying need for coats (where I often look at them on FaceTime with a serious stale face). The bottom line being, we all need a coat… for pure need, travel, or even just for style. This plaid coat I have been wearing lately certainly has joined the large winter rotation. It doesn’t have a collar, making layering over sweaters and turtlenecks seamless. Now if I could only make my workouts look that good…

    More like looking fierce….check! I love that this is a plaid coat but it’s not loud, if you know what I mean. It’s really a dark muted pattern but still noticeable if you take a moment to really look. The wide bat lapel is feminine and the gold accent zipper is a nice touch. Great find.

    I love your coat! I’ve been thinking of adding a coat to my wardrobe that’s more of a statement piece than just normal black or tan. Plaid is definitely in the runnings.

    Regardless of what colour it comes in, plaid is just the absolute best, isn’t it? And the cut of your coat makes it even more special, particularly with those metal zippers, like woah 🙂
