From first glance of Eleventh & Sixteenth or my social media accounts, you wouldn’t realize how much I involve myself in an healthy and active lifestyle. From daily workouts and my attempts at clean eating to a 2016 Whole30 New Years Resolution, you could say I am somewhat of a fitness fanatic… or as my sister would call me, “An alien who actually enjoys health food.” Needless to say, I have had questions regarding my workout and health goals and wanted to share them with all of you.
As we get older we start to realize the quirks of our personalities and the lack of metabolism as each year passes by. It has been pretty obvious to others that I am not my normal spunky self without a regular workout. I fully function on a full set of endorphins and my confidence levels are much higher as well. Staying fit is not only essential to me emotionally, but keeps me physically happy with myself. From running outside in the summer to doing treadmill intervals in the winter, there are so many other forms of fitness I try to stay involved in. Cardio Barre, boxing, yoga, weight lifting and soon to be reformer pilates, have been my current workout rotation.
However. no workout would ever be complete without the perfect nutrition. I wish I could eat what I used to in High School but those days are long gone. With the occasional splurge on my weaknesses like ice cream and burritos, it’s important to eat healthy majority of the time. Starting in the new year, I kick started my metabolism with Whole30. Cleaning my body out of all the impurities that could potentially cause allergic reactions. Removing grains, dairy, legumes, sugars, alcohol, peanuts and sulfites, allowing me to cleanse myself, while slowing reintroducing each food after the 30 day mark. After the 30 days it was easy to establish how each food made me feel and gave me a better understanding of what I was putting in my body moving forward. I highly encourage everyone to try it at least once… I might be giving it another go soon!
What’s your favorite workout, and how do you eat healthy? I am always open to try new things and I would love to hear what everyone else does too! Let me know in the comments!

Congrats on sticking to your routine and the clean eating, it can be challenging at times, but if you like it that’s great! I cut out grain and sugar this year and it’s been so good for me.

Greetings from a fellow alien who also enjoys healthfood 😉 I did my first Whole30 in February and LOVED it! Can’t wait to give it another go this summer. On the flip side I really need to kick my butt into gear in the workout department, I just completely fell off the wagon on that one. Thank you for reminding me I meant to join a gym least month ;D

I’m definitely a lot better at sticking with healthy eating choices that I am at working out. When I think back on all of the fried chicken and poutine I used to eat in high school…it just blows my mind at this point!
