Scotch Essentials
Being the youngest in a family of a bunch of 5’7 relatives, I was the unlucky child who received the ‘short gene’. Standing tall at a stature of 5’4, I have always had shorter legs. Having this height has provided me with a few challenges when it comes to shopping for pants.
Rarely are jeans and pants offered in a short and tall version, most of the time they come in a ‘one size fits all’ selection. I usually find myself cuffing my jeans or paying a premium to having my pants hemmed to fit my height. As if we don’t already pay enough for pants and denim jeans. In all honesty, who really has time to get their pants hemmed every time we find ourselves getting a new pair?
Luckily I found Scotch™ Essentials Permanent Hem Bonding Strips making hemming now only easy, but super affordable. I literally can hem my pants anywhere, on my own schedule and in no time at all! The best part? Scotch™ Essentials Permanent Hem Bonding Strips work on more than clothing, they work on curtains, table runners, pillow cases or other fabrics around the house. Hem tape is also a great way to preserve older hemlines that may have begun to fray. I just love using it on my jeans. Hallelujah, no more cuffing!
Curious? Be sure to check out my tutorial on how easy it is to hem your jeans in a flash, and literally… anywhere!
Step one:
Turn item to be hemmed inside out. Be sure to measure and fold hem into fabric. To be more precise, press hem with iron to form crease. (I cuff my pants so much, I have a perma-crease anyways lol)
Step two:
Moisten thumb and fingertips prior to handling strip, preventing adhesive from sticking to fingers during application. (I opted to use a little extra lotion instead of getting my hands wet.)
Step three:
Holding by edges and touching as little adhesive as possible, slowly peel strip with attached brown paper backing from white sheet. Carefully position strip with attached brown paper backing inside new hem at the crease, making sure hem width will fold to cover the entire strip. Rub firmly on brown backing, making sure to press over entire strip.
Step four:
Slowly and carefully peel off top brown backing. (I re-applied more lotion so I wouldn’t stick!)
Step five:
Fold fabric on hemline and rub firmly.
You’re done! Now you can enjoy your favorite jeans or pants at the perfect length with Scotch Essentials Permanent Hem Bonding Strips! Be sure to also check out their other products such as Scotch Essentials Adjustable Hem Tape or my absolute favorite, Scotch Essentials White Mark Eraser (for all my terrible deodorant marks!)
